Another Barry Town game was played today 17/12/23 against Cardiff Dragons.
With the line ups announced by the respective clubs it was time to get the match underway with Barry Town kicking off.
Barry didn't really get a foot hold in the game as we kept giving the ball away cheaply. Cardiff Dragons had the majority of the possession and used it really well to move the Barry players around the pitch until they could find little gaps of space to create chances.
Barry had a few chances on goal in the first half but didn't make any of them count the closest we got to scoring was from Ibby after a route one goal kick from Luke.
Barry had to defend lots of corners which we done very well, it helped the majority of the corners were out swinging which made the ball go away from goal.
As the clock ticked closer to half time the Barry Goal Keeper Luke made a great double save aswell as some help from Phil and Taran with two great goal saving blocks to keep the score at 0-0.
Half Time score 0-0
A few changes were made from Dave (Barry Coach) at half time to give Barry some extra men in the middle of the pitch as that was the area in which Cardiff Dragons were exploiting a lot during the first half.
Barry conceded 2 goals which were very sloppy to give Cardiff Dragaons a well deserved 2-0 lead.
Myself (JJ) made sure that the score remained at 2-0 with a last ditch goal line clearance after the Cardiff Dragons attack rounded Luke and pretty much had the entire goals to aim for.
Dragons made it 3-0 not long after that, as there was a mix up in communication between Luke and Taran.
As Cardiff went for the kill in terms of scoreline, I (JJ) was on hand to prevent another goal with another block that was goal bound after a indirect free was given by the referee after a back pass from the Barry defence.
As Ibby had another shot on target for Barry, the game became a bit stretched as following a throw in on the left hand side, Barry failed to make the most of it and Cardiff Dragons counterattacked with very quick pace and before myself and the Barry defence knew it was 4-0 to the Dragons.
The game ended 4-0 to Cardiff Dragons but without the effort and commitment put in by the Barry players, the scoreline could of been much higher. As the Cardiff Dragons coach told me that they have only not scored more than 4 goals twice this season. So the Barry players will be going home with their heads held extremely high.
A big thank you goes to Cardiff Dragons and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season and we will look forward to playing you again soon.
