Aberystwyth Exiles vs Barry Town PDFC South Wales Pan Disability League (SWPDL) – Matchday 2

After an impressive start to the league, Barry Town PDFC aimed to continue their momentum and secure six points from their first two games. Meanwhile, Aberystwyth Exiles were eager to bounce back from their opening 4-1 defeat and get their first win on the board.

First Half

Barry started the game slowly but took the lead in the 14th minute through their top scorer, Joe. Just a minute later, Joe doubled his tally in spectacular fashion. After winning a free kick following a foul on him, he picked himself up, placed the ball down, and unleashed a rocket of a shot into the top left corner—giving the Exiles’ keeper no chance. Barry led 2-0.

As Barry grew into the game, Jason added a third in the 22nd minute after some great build-up play from Joe. The fourth goal came in the 33rd minute when Phil headed in a right-sided corner from Jason, marking his second goal of the season.

Aberystwyth pulled one back just before half-time from the penalty spot after the ball struck a Barry defender’s hand following a corner.

Second Half

Barry made substitutions at the start of the second half to maintain their three-goal advantage. The changes proved effective as Joe completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute, finishing off an assist from goalkeeper Luke to make it 5-1.

Aberystwyth responded quickly, scoring their second goal in the 57th minute after a good link-up between their strikers.

However, Barry put the game beyond doubt in the 80th minute when Joe, assisted once again by Jason, netted his fourth goal and Barry’s sixth of the match.

The Exiles managed a late third goal, but it was too little, too late.
