Aberystwyth Exiles Tournament 18/02/24

The first tournament of 2024 got underway in Cardiff with various team from South Wales taking part.

In the first game for Barry A, was played against Newport, this game was very tight as Barry were not playing at the standards they always set themselves. Barry managed to get a victory 1-0.

The second game for Barry was against a new opponent in Cambrian and Cyldach. Cambrian played some good football aswell as Barry but in the end both teams couldn't find the back of the net, this game ended 0-0.

Two games in and Barry were on course to go unbeaten in another tournament.

The third game for Barry was against a very familiar opponent in Aberystwyth Exiles. This was another very interesting tight game as both teams knew each other's strengths and weaknesses. A single goal was all it took for Barry to claim the win with a 1-0 scoreline.

Another unbeaten game for Barry took their record to 3 games played, 2 wins and 1 draw at this point in the tournament . So the coaches and players were all thinking about the final.

In the fourth game of the round robin, Barry played another new team called Trench.

In this game Barry played with the bar set very high as they ran out 3-0 winners. Which put them into the final against Cambrian and Clydach.

In the final both teams were going for the win as expected, but unfortunately this is where the unbeaten streak for Barry came to an end as Cambrian and Clydach managed to score the decisive goal and win 1-0. This game had a very controversial goal disallowed for Barry as the ball ended up over the goal line but the referee disallowed it!!

Congratulations to Cambrian and Clydach.

A very well done to all the teams taking part in the tournament today.
